Ian and Ella 

Mr Ian Maclennan of Fyrish Crescent Evanton, pictured here with his wife Ella whilst attending our Commemoration Exhibition at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, proudly shows the insignia recently awarded to him by the French President, Jean-Pierre Jouyet. It appointed him to the rank of “Chevalier in the Ordre National de la Legion D’honneur” which “recognizes your military engagement and steadfast involvement in the Liberation of France during the Second World War”.  Ian, who is 94, was proud to receive this high honour from the French Embassy in London at a ceremony in Inverness in July of this year.  Ella, a regular visitor to the Senior Citizens Lunch Club and a prolific poet gave her kind permission to print this warming article here.
